Love poems

There Is No Way

There is no way
That I can say
I'll love you more and more each day.

The best I'll do
Is promise you
We'll have some fun before we're through!

In Mourning, Sea Fog

In mourning, sea fog
Makes small things visible.
Pearls cling to petals.
Pine needles are fringed with glass.
The sea breaks against rocks.
Heaving back, it breaks again.
What does the wild rose know of its beauty?
Have you any idea what you've given me?

Desire Is

Desire is
The hook
Love
The eye
Which forgives
More
Than it
Is
Willing to

Thank You for Staying in My Life

Thank you for staying in my life.
How could I have ushered you away?
Another person might have made me pay,
Needing the sweet vengeance of my grief.
Kindness is in everything you do.
You must love me very much to stay.
Often now, some moment of each day,
Unbidden, I am grateful I have you.

You Have an Angel's Face, a Loving Heart

You have an angel's face, a loving heart,
A peaceful, sunlit smile that lasts forever.
You are the whole, of which I am a part,
Not fully me unless we are together.

I know there is a world beyond our love
In which such thoughts are merely poetry.
But thinking of you now, I can't remove
The glow that shines on you from inside me.

How happy, happy life is when some tender
Feeling like a candle lights one's eyes.
For all my life you'll be my heart's true center,
Striding like a sun across my skies.

To Me Your Life Has Been an Inspiration

To me your life has been an inspiration.
Happiness is mine because of you.
As a mountain shows our destination,
Never, in its grandeur, lost from view,
Know that you have been my moral guide.

You have shaped the one I am inside,
Opening my heart with your affection,
Underlying all I say and do.

Lovers Sometimes Rub Each Other's

Lovers sometimes rub each other's
Nerves a little raw.
We find ourselves beside ourselves
And don't want any more.

But then we think: What would we do
Without that sweet embrace?
How could we go from day to day
Not seeing that dear face?

And then we see our discontent
From the other side,
Looking at how we must look
Without our blinding pride:

And we feel love come flowing in
Like a warm and gentle sea,
Knowing that this special place
Is where we want to be.

Perhaps an Angel Told You Once of Love

Perhaps an angel told you once of love,
A spirit pure, not knowing fear or shame.
Until that whispered word, perhaps, you came
Less willing to the winds that some hearts move,
After which you had for them a name.

A White Rose

The red rose whispers of passion,
And the white rose breathes of love;
O the red rose is a falcon,
And the white rose is a dove.

But I send you a cream-white rosebud
With a flush on its petal tips;
For the love that is purest and sweetest
Has a kiss of desire on the lips.

True Love

True love is a sacred flame
That burns eternally,
And none can dim its special glow
Or change its destiny!

True love speaks in tender tones
And hears with gentle ear,
True love gives with open heart
And conquers all fear.

True love makes no harsh demands
It neither rules nor binds,
And true love holds with gentle hands
The hearts that it entwines.
